Digging for lead

It's always nice when you have about 2 seconds to decide if you're going to spend a thousand dollars on something that you don't understand and haven't had time to research.

That's what happened to me when I found out that:
a) The city of Toronto was digging up the pipe in front of my house
b) They were doing it right away
c) This would be my only chance to replace the lead pipe between city property and my house
d) It would cost me dearly.

So what did I do? What any self-respecting Dutch girl would... bargained. And thus, I am in fact getting the whole thing replaced, even though my part of it was ever so small and probably wouldn't have harmed me (or my future children) at all. Still, it's done.

Or, as I'm writing this, almost done.

The plumber still hasn't arrived to rehook up the water. And so that event that I was looking forward to? Can't go. have to wait here for the plumber. In fact, this whole ordeal meant I worked from home all day.

And that meant that I actually was MORE productive. And ate better. And you know what? I really enjoyed it.

I think saving money perked me up.
